Heartbreaking Reason Why Vampire Diaries' Spinoff Main Star Vanished from Public Eye
Danielle Rose Russell was the main star of Legacies, but a wave of vicious criticism forced her to keep her private life completely under wraps.
Danielle Rose Russell managed to attract the attention of directors in a short time. A bright game allowed her to star in several memorable projects and demonstrate different facets of her talent.
The naturalness and organicity with which the actress appears on the screen attracted numerous fans to her work. However, when there is great fame and many fans, haters inevitably appear, which became the reason that the actress decided to completely hide her private life.
In 2018, the fifth and final season of the series The Originals, developed by Julie Plec as a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries, was released with Russell's participation.
The plot revolved around some of the main characters from The Vampire Diaries. Danielle was cast as Hope Mikaelson, the daughter of ancient hybrid Klaus Mikaelson and werewolf leader Hayley Marshall.
The role turned out to be small and minor, but it became an excellent start for the next project – Legacies, which was released the same year. Julie Plec, considering Russell's talent, decided to make her the main character in the spin-off, which tells about the graduates of the Salvatore Boarding School for children with supernatural abilities.
In the spring of 2021, the actress deleted her social media accounts. The reason for this was the attacks of haters on both Hope Mikaelson and Danielle herself.
The actress was exposed to insults for years – some haters believed that she was overweight. They continued to terrorize Danielle even after she lost weight. The star decided to put an end to the constant accusations and deleted her accounts on social networks.
In 2022, the final season of Legacies was released. And if earlier Russell reported that she was delighted with the character she played, then in recent conversations with reporters she noted that she was tired of the image of Hope and wanted to try herself in other projects.
To date, the actress has had no new projects since the end of Legacies. In several interviews, the actress admitted that she has not given up acting – she is auditioning and will be happy to star in another fantasy project.
