The Walking Dead Star Confesses His Departure Left Him in Tears
Fans wished Shane had lived longer, and apparently so did Jon Bernthal.
The Walking Dead concluded more than a year ago with its eleventh and final season, and is currently spawning several spinoffs.
To this day, fans can’t help but talk about one character who was on the show for just two seasons but still left an indelible mark. We are talking about Shane Walsh, portrayed by Jon Bernthal.
Being a part of a long-running TV series can create a strong bond between actors and their characters, and Bernthal is a vivid example of it. In an interview with Conan O'Brien, Bernthal shared the emotions he felt when he was on set for the last time.
After filming his character's death scene, Bernthal returned to the set of The Walking Dead one last time to retrieve his truck. Little did he know that this visit would lead to an overwhelming wave of emotions.
As he made his way back, the season 2 finale was in progress, and the production team was hard at work. Instead of just saying goodbye to everyone, Bernthal found a quiet spot to enjoy the beauty of the set.
As he looked around and saw the familiar sights and faces that had become a part of his life, Bernthal couldn't help but feel a deep sense of sorrow. Knowing that he was no longer a part of the story that had captivated millions of viewers, he was overcome with emotions.
Bernthal also expressed gratitude to the show, and said that it was an honor for him to be part of it.
Despite the sadness that came with leaving The Walking Dead, Bernthal has continued to make a mark in the entertainment industry. He has gone on to deliver exceptional performances in various films and TV shows. So, maybe it wasn’t a bad thing that his character eventually got killed off.
In such a long-running TV show as The Walking Dead, many great actors find themselves stuck in the same role for many years.
As much as they love their characters, it becomes unbearable. It is actually often the reason why some actors end up leaving their roles.
