There are characters we're excited to love, there are those we love to hate, and there are actors who love the hate.

Kim Raver, the actress who portrays Teddy Altman on Grey's Anatomy, turns out to be the latter when she suddenly admitted she kinda enjoys it when fans hate her character's certain actions.

Teddy was introduced in season 6 of the highly acclaimed show to last for three years, and exiting in season 8 finale — only to return as a regular in season 14 to fans' delight.

Teddy Altman is a skilled cardiothoracic surgeon who initially served as a mentor to protagonist Dr. Cristina Yang (played by Sandra Oh).

Her backstory as a military veteran and past relationship with Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) added depth to the character, and fans were excited to see her return as a series regular in season 14.

Why the hate, though? Well, it's about her involvement in not just one, but two love triangles: with Owen and his ex-wife Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone), and Owen and Tom Koracick (Greg Germann).

While addressing the fans' dismay over these Teddy's romantic involvements in an interview with Awards Radar, Raver has in turn expressed her love for the passionate Grey's Anatomy fan base.

In the most gracious way possible she shared that the fact that fans are upset "means that we're doing our job. We're not here to be liked."

She went on to praise the genuine aspect of the show, that the characters are people who are bound to make mistakes, and fans being upset just means "they're on the journey with me to figure out how to get on a better path and be a better person."

Just how can you hate on Raver and her character after that?

In addition to her work on Grey's Anatomy, Raver is known for her roles on 24 and Lipstick Jungle. Being just overall a great person, she has also been a vocal advocate for women's health and other causes outside of her acting career.
