Grey's Anatomy: 5 Times Meredith Totally Sucked as a Person
Ellen Pompeo announcing her exit from Grey's Anatomy had mixed reactions, with some fans feeling disappointed.
Others feel that Pompeo's exit was long overdue, as her character has been in decline, especially since Derek's death. Her departure marks the end of an era because Meredith is an icon of the show who gave fans the most memorable storylines.
Although we will miss the indestructible doctor and mother who never gave in to pressure, Meredith also has an erratic and impulsive side that we would rather forget.
Whenever things don't go her way, she turns into a monster of sorts, hurting people and showing little remorse. She is a good person all around and doesn't let her worst moments define her, but some of the things she did in those moments are just unforgivable.
When She Ruined Derek's Alzheimer's Trial
Derek had invested a lot into the research and even termed it as his life's dream before Meredith ruined it. If the trial had worked, it would have saved lots of lives, probably including Ellis'. As a doctor, Meredith should have known better than to interfere with the whole process considering how dangerous it was for Ellis, Derek, and herself.
Meredith Grey's 5 Most Memorable Fails on Grey's Anatomy
The worst thing about her is that she wasn't remorseful for it, even after she ruined Derek's life by getting him banned. She let everyone take the fall for her actions while she continued to make more mistakes, including hiding baby Zola from the social worker.
When She Refused To Go To DC With Derek
Meredith's rejection of the entire DC move was mostly out of arrogance and jealousy because Derek didn't do anything wrong. He got her a job before accepting the offer and explained to Meredith how the move was good for her career too. Meredith's research in Seattle had collapsed, and she didn't have any upward moves in her career, so DC would have helped both of them.
Meredith instead used Cristina's comments to dismiss Derek and make him look bad for actually trying to do the right thing. After claiming to be so connected to Seattle, she sold their house immediately after Derek's death and moved to San Diego, leaving all the friends she claimed to love so much without even saying goodbye.
Derek wouldn't have died if Meredith handled the move more maturely.
When She Cheated On Finn
Everyone that got in the way of Meredith's relationship with Derek ended up getting hurt even if their intentions were pure, and Finn was one of them. He was just an innocent vet that fell in love with Meredith, but she only treated him as a fling. Finn forgave her the first time when she slept with Derek and even told her that he had future plans for the both of them, but she didn't care much about his feelings. She went ahead to use Finn for companionship whenever she wanted, knowing she only had feelings for Derek. It was unfair to the poor guy who did everything to make her happy.
When She Didn't Tell The Family About Derek's Death
Derek had a big family, and Meredith herself confirmed that the family meant a lot to him. She seemed to forget that they also had a right to know about Derek's well-being after the wedding and constantly acted as if she was Derek's only family. When he was pronounced brain dead, she didn't bother to call them to say their final words before turning off life support.
She then sold the house and left for San Diego. It was so unfair for Amelia to have to hear about her brother's death from Meredith's colleagues. Meredith failed to understand that by being Derek's wife, she was also part of Derek's larger family, which had known him for longer than she did.
When She Slept With Derek Behind Addison's Back
Meredith blamed Derek for being sexist when she discovered that he was married to Addison, but she was actually worse because she didn't care about Addison's feelings. She gave them a dog as a gift, only to turn around and sleep with Derek every time she got a chance.
Addison was fighting to save her marriage, but Meredith didn't care about her feelings by holding Derek responsible for his actions. She even went as far as begging Derek to choose her over Addison, proving she didn't care about his apparent sexism anymore. She never stopped complaining to Derek about his mistakes when she is the one who chose to ignore all of them and trample on other people's feelings just to be with him.
