Gladiator II And 4 Other Confirmed Pedro Pascal Big Projects We Can’t Wait For
Hollywood's main single dad has some exciting projects in the works.
Missing Pedro Pascal already? We completely understand you – after 2023 literally became the year of big releases with the actor, 2024 seems painfully empty without him.
That's why we've collected the most anticipated projects with Pedro Pascal.
1. Gladiator II
Release Date: November 22, 2024
The filming of the sequel to Ridley Scott 's cult epic, Gladiator II, was frozen due to the strikes, but now work on the set has been successfully completed.
Talk of a sequel circulated throughout Hollywood for more than twenty years after the first film's successful release, suggesting almost biblical and fantastic tales of battles in the afterlife.
As a result, Gladiator II moderated its ambitions: Lucius, the nephew of Commodus, played by Joaquin Phoenix in the first film, will be at the center of the story. As a boy, he was inspired by the exploits of the gladiator Maximus in the arena and will apparently follow in the footsteps of Russell Crowe’s character.
The lead role in the movie went to Irish actor Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn played Emperor Caracalla, and Pedro Pascal played a former soldier who was forced to become a gladiator. We can only hope that the fate of Pascal's gladiator will not be too short – as Game of Thrones demonstrated, the actor's characters do not perform very well in one-on-one fights.
2. The Wild Robot
Release Date: September 20, 2024
The next release in Pedro Pascal's filmography will take place very soon. The actor will voice one of the main characters in the animated film The Wild Robot.
The DreamWorks animation will be an adaptation of Peter Brown's novel of the same name about a robot stranded on a desert island with amazing flora and fauna. At the helm of the project is Chris Sanders, one of the screenwriters of Disney classics such as The Lion King and Aladdin, and the director of How to Train Your Dragon. Lupita Nyong'o will voice the lost robot, while Pedro Pascal will voice the little fox Fink.
3. The Fantastic Four
Release Date: July 25, 2025
This year's Valentine's Day brought good news for fans of Pedro Pascal and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The promo for the film announced the cast of the next superhero team: in addition to Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach were announced as the main stars of the project.
Attentive fans studied the artwork and noticed that the cover featured Lyndon Johnson in the hands of the Thing, so they assumed that the movie would be set in the 1960s. However, later one of the insiders revealed that most likely the superheroes will find themselves in an alternate universe and their story will be connected in one way or another with the Avengers saga.
4. The Last of Us Season 2
Release Date: 2025
The second chapter of the game The Last of Us once caused a storm in the gaming community, and now viewers will become familiar with all the contradictions of a world teeming with infected people.
The first season of the HBO series was warmly received by audiences, and despite doubts, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey managed to create a unique duo, close in spirit to the prototypes, but at the same time absolutely original.
Showrunner Craig Mazin and game designer Neil Druckmann promise that the second season of the show will deviate more from the source material, and even those who know Ellie and Joel's story first hand will likely be in for some unexpected twists.
5. Eddington
Release Date: 2025
For now, the most mysterious release in Pedro Pascal's filmography is Eddington, a new movie by Ari Aster, the director of such horror hits as Midsommar and Hereditary.
According to the plot, Eddington is a fictional town in New Mexico whose residents are suffering from the struggle between the sheriff, played by Joaquin Phoenix, and the mayor, played by Pedro Pascal. A couple who get lost on the road and accidentally end up in Eddington will have to figure out the conflict and the secrets of the locals, and the action will take place in the midst of a pandemic.
Not only is the cast intriguing – in addition to Pascal and Phoenix, Emma Stone and Austin Butler will also star in the movie – but also the genre: Ari Aster is taking on a Western, which means the movie will definitely be something unexpected and strange.
