General Hospital Ruined Yet Another Character, but She Can Be Salvaged Still
They just need to put in a little work.
Even though General Hospital has been on television for decades, and viewers are willing to forgive some of the dubious decisions made by the writers, there are some things they can never ignore. Messing with the most beloved characters to the point of no return is one of them.
Considering how the show exploited Sonny and Carly Corinthos, once deeply loved by the fandom, to the point of no return, viewers now fear for any character with a solid fanbase. However, there is always a flip side to the coin: while some characters are overused, others seem to be slowly but surely fading away.
What Happened to Elizabeth Webber on General Hospital?
Over the course of the show, Elizabeth had to overcome a lot to get to her happy ending. Her story began when she was a teenager, took a dark turn when she was sexually assaulted, and continued for years in constant fear. But it all made for entertaining TV and put her character front and center. After that, she was sidelined.
Being temporarily sidelined isn't that shocking for any General Hospital character. With the bloated cast and only so much screen time to cover everything and everyone, some characters have to sit back and wait for their turn in the character rotation circle. The only upsetting thing is that while they're waiting for their turn, they're not being cared for at all.
As Liz stayed in a quiet but boring relationship with Finn, there wasn't much the show could do with her. However, the writers seemed to have forgotten about her existence to the point where all of her personal connections were gone and the new ones just weren't written in,
With no friends, no present family, no hobbies, and essentially no life outside of her work and relationship, Elizabeth has joined the realm of forgotten characters. Luckily, she's now stepping forward as drastic changes occur in her life. However, it would take a long time to repair all the damage that has been done.
Hopefully, now that Jason is back in her life, General Hospital will return to their iconic romance. If not, viewers are still clamoring for Elizabeth to finally get her voice back and be a part of the drama that the show is so beloved for.
