It would be nice to see at least one storyline without her for a change.

The more characters in the show, the more effort the writers have to make to fit them all into the script in a natural way.

No one wants to watch a story that feels forced and unnecessary, and no one wants to see too much of one character in a row.

General Hospital 's showrunners, writers, and directors have managed to perfect this balance over the years. Recently, however, it has been thrown off again.

Fans say one character is clearly to blame.

Carly Corinthos, currently portrayed by Laura Wright, has been the subject of many fans' complaints lately, as the writing for her character is slowly declining in the eyes of the audience.

Many fans feel that she has far too many conflicts now, and what's even more annoying is that she can never lose any of them, whether she's in the wrong or not.

But Carly becoming the anti-hero of the show is not the only complaint people seem to have. What's much more disturbing is her presence in almost every storyline imaginable, even if it doesn't make it any better.

"Carly is involved in nearly every single major storyline whether it makes sense for Carly to be involved in them or not. Carly could be on every single day and most wouldn't care as long as she stayed in her lane. But when she's just clumsily inserted into other stories just to meet LW's episode count, it's annoying and harmful to the show," Redditor Amazed_and_Bemused said.

Fans feel like there is too much Carly, even when she doesn't take as much screen time as others may do.

With so many other interesting characters to tackle and develop in any direction the soap needs, the writers' obsession with Carly seems both intriguing and completely unnecessary.

The only hope is that Carly's presence doesn't become so annoying that viewers would rather turn off their televisions than watch yet another storyline involving her.

Tune in to ABC Monday-Friday to see what else the writers have in store for Carly.
