The South Korean TV industry is taking over the world, and it seems like it isn't going to change anytime soon. Tons of new K-dramas are being produced every month, and each one is of higher quality than the last.

However, there are many shows released during past years that are still holding top positions in every “best K-dramas” list, and one of them is this gripping thriller called My Name.

While K-dramas usually follow male characters and their tough journeys, using female characters only as a supporting number two, this show definitely deserves to be watched at least for the amazing portrayal of a powerful female character.

At the center of My Name is a young girl named Yoon Ji-woo, who is heartbroken over the murder of her father. Now she is determined to find out who is responsible. In order to uncover the truth, she enlists the help of a very dangerous criminal who was also her father's friend.

The man's name is Choi Moo-jin, and when the girl approaches him, he tells her that he would help her if she would work undercover at a police station. Needless to say, the desperate girl agrees.

However, she decides to make the best of it and becomes the most successful rookie there, outperforming every single male employee of the department. She becomes a partner of Detective Jeon Pil-do and has to do everything to gain his trust in order to uncover the truth about her father's death.

What the fans of this dark revenge K-drama loved most was the performance of Han So-Hee in this atypical female role.

“It's good, entertaining, and nice to see a strong female lead. Ending a bit predictable and a bit of a stretch that a petite female boxer of short training could wipe out a big group of well-trained male fighters at once, but okay. I enjoyed it, and it was nice to see Han So-Hee play a non-seductive femme fatale,” Redditor aliceincrazytown said.
