Fans Pissed as Margot Robbie Reprises Her Role as Harley Quinn in New DCU
According to scoopers, Margot Robbie will stay in Gunn’s new DCU and reprise her role as Harley Quinn; according to fans, this is the dumbest thing they’ve ever heard.
James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU, the glorified “complete reboot,” begins to look more and more like the good old DCEU — at least, according to industry insiders. More and more scoops are appearing that claim that many old actors will reprise their roles in Gunn’s Universe, and this kind of news infuriates many fans.
The latest news arrived from a well-known scooper MyTimeToShineHello who shared it on X (formerly Twitter). According to them, Margot Robbie will be returning as Harley Quinn in Gunn’s new DCU…and fans are really split on this one. On the one hand, who doesn’t love Margot Robbie? On the other hand, justice for Cavill!
Many people are quite discontent with this news (or, rather, this scoop), but for different reasons. Some are actually frustrated because while everyone else is seemingly reprising their roles, one of the lead actors was fired for no reason.
“If this is true, you need to bring back Henry Cavill. There won't be a better Superman in this lifetime. Do what's right! @JamesGunn,” wrote X (formerly Twitter) user light47 in the comments.
Others are not happy about the “cherry-picking” on James Gunn’s part and are convinced that since he already started recasting the main characters, he should follow through with his decision and recast everyone else, too.
“I’ll believe it when I see it. So many rumors surrounding who is continuing and who isn’t. Like I’ve been saying, hard reboot… Cherry-picking is ridiculous,” ChainsawReacts pointed out.
But apart from all the negativity, there are quite a few people who are happy about Margot Robbie staying in the new DC Universe; most of them claim that she’s “one of the only keeps that actually makes sense.” Once again, who doesn’t love Margot Robbie, let’s be real here.
“Awesome! Birds of Prey wasn’t perfect, but had lots of potential. Hopefully, they can nail it this time. Robbie is a star who makes just about any movie work,” FilmColossus commented.
Either way, for now, all we have is a scoop — and even though it came from an insider that rarely misses, we have to wait and see whether it turns out to be true. Still, despite being happy that Robbie might stay in the DCU, we can’t help but feel that James Gunn’s reasoning for firing Henry Cavill is falling apart more and more.
