Fans Debate Over Harry Potter's True House – And It's Not Slytherin
Are you a true Potterhead if you have not debated Harry's true Hogwarts house online at some point in your life? Our answer is "no" (and the decision of the Wizengamot is final).
Years after the Harry Potter saga – both cinematic and literary – concluded, fans still seem unsure whether the Sorting Hat placed Harry in the right house.
Sure, many have believed from the beginning that Harry would have made a great Slytherin, but lately, there has been talk in the darkest corners of Reddit that our Chosen One should have actually been a Hufflepuff. Surprised? So are we.
Some fans are comparing Harry's Hufflepuffness to how Hermione is a strong candidate for Ravenclaw.
Their reasoning has to do with the fact that Helga's house is just as brave as Godric's, but their courage is tied to "loyalty and friendship instead of independence and honor."
Now that we think about it, this makes perfect sense in Harry's case! Remember all the times when he was willing to sacrifice himself for his friends and sometimes even for people he barely knew? Hufflepuff at his best for sure!
Why are we only realizing this now? Could it be connected to the fact that Hufflepuff has always been portrayed as the "weakest" Hogwarts house?
People seem to agree on it being a factor, if not the factor. The first couple of books ruined Hufflepuff for us, and it took us years to recover.
Even the first mention of Hufflepuff in the saga comes from Draco Malfoy himself, and he is not the right person to listen to regarding many aspects, but especially this one.
Thankfully, we have all come to our senses or rather been brought to them by the era of the "woke" and realized what a truly great house Hufflepuff is. Not just because of its proximity to the kitchens…
Maybe years will go by, and we will happen to see that Harry could have made a decent Ravenclaw as well, and then we will come full circle back to Gryffindor being the obvious choice. Maybe not.
Whatever the future holds, we should just be happy that Harry Potter can still bring us together like that. After all this time? Always.
