Ezra Miller Scandal Reignites, Plunges The Flash Further Into Chaos

With the release of The Flash fast approaching, expectations for the movie have skyrocketed after a wave of enthusiastic reviews following the early screening at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

Naturally, more and more promotional material is being released to keep up the hype, but sometimes a few carelessly dropped words can cause a significant backlash.

This is exactly what happened with an interview with Paul Austerberry, the production designer for the film.

While most of the interview covered his past work and various technical aspects of his job, it ended up touching on a highly controversial topic, with disastrous results.

Ezra Miller, who portrays the titular superhero, has been involved in a significant number of scandals in recent years, ranging from physical assaults to expressions of cult-like behavior.

Their arrests even put their future as the iconic DC superhero in jeopardy, but they have avoided any repercussions and, according to the movie's director, are "taking the steps to recovery."

So when Austerberry's interview inevitably touched on this sensitive subject, the designer made a rather bold statement.

He said that "people will forget that" because the actor has mastered the task of playing two versions of the characters in the same movie and their brilliant acting will outshine their past misdeeds.

This claim did not go down well with the fans on social media, who were rather baffled by such arrogance. They say that the amount of trouble the actor got into will not be easily forgotten.

Fans point out that the "crazy goose wizard" (as Miller called himself in a particularly infamous public statement) has gotten into trouble all over the world, and they find it rather insulting to claim that the public will simply erase all of this from their memories after one great performance on screen.

It's everyone's individual choice to separate the artist from the art, but such a... strong statement is definitely not the best way to deal with the ongoing controversy.

The anger of the fans is completely understandable, and it has only fueled the debates around the situation instead of letting them die down with time.

The Flash will be released on June 16, 2023.
