‘Evil Poop’: MCU’s Grossest Theory About Thanos and Ant-Man Doesn’t Work, And Here’s Why
Thanos was really lucky Ant-Man didn’t pull this secret move.
The fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are famous for their knack to come up with the wildest theories you can think of. But sometimes, these theories aren't just wild, they're downright hilarious and surprisingly believable too.
In the lead-up to the release of Avengers: Endgame, a quirky fan theory, humorously dubbed the Thanus theory, went viral. This theory suggested a rather unconventional method for defeating the Mad Titan, Thanos.
Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man, should have shrunk down to the size of an ant, entered Thanos' posterior, and then expanded to the size sufficient to tear Thanos apart from the inside.
Paul Rudd, the actor who portrays Ant-Man, has been asked about this theory on multiple occasions. In a video promoting the Disney Cruise Line (via Hypebeast), Rudd addressed the theory, describing it as “gross” and hinted that it wasn't as simple as fans were making it out to be.
During an episode of Hot Ones in 2019, Paul Rudd was asked about the theory again, and you can see Rudd’s disappointment because he was asked this question so many times. But he sarcastically claimed that he considered it a “lost opportunity.”
But Rudd wasn’t the only one who addressed this wild theory. Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, known for his ability to break down complex scientific concepts for the general public, also weighed in on this theory.
In an episode of the StarTalk podcast, Tyson humorously commented, “First, that’s nasty. Because if Thanos is as powerful and as evil as he is, he’s going to have powerful, evil poop. I would not want to find myself in that environment.”
Tyson suggested that the Avengers should have shrunk an object, and then expanded it inside of Thanos. Charles Liu, a guest on the podcast, added to the humor by suggesting that Thanos might have "quantum butt armor" to protect himself from such attacks.
While the theory is clearly more of a humorous take on how the Avengers could defeat Thanos, it just shows the creativity of fans in trying to find a solution to the seemingly insurmountable problem.
