As the first season of City Primeval wraps up, there’s one question every fan can’t stop thinking about: will there be more? Here’s everything we know at this point.

After the original Justified series ended back in 2015, the show went under the radar for eight whole years — until recently, iit suddenly resurfaced with a brand-new sequel mini-series, Justified: City Primeval.

Fans were clearly excited for the return of their favorite Deputy Marshal Raylan Givens, but it wasn’t for long.

City Primeval, while great in many ways, turned out to be way too short for our liking: it seems like it only just came out, and the next second, there were already the final credits rolling.

This just can’t do, and the fans demand to know whether there will be another season or they were just teased by the heartless producers out of the blue.

Unfortunately, for now, there is no definitive answer. FX is withholding its decision about the future of the show, and we can only rely on some evasive quotes for now.

“It’s up to FX — what they want to do, if they want to tell another chapter [of Raylan’s story]. If they don’t, then, you know, it was good to do this, and we feel really good about where we ended,” the executive producer and co-showrunner Michael Dinner told TVLine.

Well, the fans don’t really tend to agree with this sentiment. While City Primeval, just like the original Justified, ended on a very fitting note, it also left quite some room for continuation — and the audience wants this room to be filled. After seeing the Marshal again, it’s hard to say goodbye, and no one really wants to. Him included.

Despite carefully avoiding giving up too much information, Timothy Olyphant, the actor behind Raylan, coyly admitted that he’d definitely “show up” if Season 2 got a green light.

The team has expressed their eagerness to work together more, too, so now we’re only waiting for the reaction from FX — whether the execs will listen to the crew and the fans is yet unknown.
