Every TV Show Premiering & Returning in February 2024: The Complete List
We've cherry-picked a few we're excited about, or you can skip to the complete list below.
Old Favorites:
Law & Order (NBC, Jan. 18)
Law & Order: SVU (NBC, Jan. 18)
January will see the return of both Law & Order and its juggernaut spinoff Law & Order: SVU. Funnily enough, the spinoff has officially had more seasons: Law & Order was canceled in 2010 and then brought back after an unprecedented 11 year hiatus. The break hasn't prevented the show from attracting stellar names to its cast – the new team includes English dreamboat Hugh Dancy as Assistant District Attorney Nolan Price.
Meanwhile, over on CBS, NCIS is starting its 21st season while Fox's old standby The Simpsons is entering season 36!
Remakes:
Mr & Mrs Smith (Prime, Feb. 2)
Created by Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane, Mr & Mrs Smith is based on the 2005 movie but takes a different approach. Here, the spies of the title know each other's true identities right off the top – because they've been set up in a fake marriage by their agency. Glover and co-star Maya Erskine look to be having a ton of fun in the new trailer, which leans more comedic than the original movie.
Avatar: The Last Airbender (Netflix, Feb. 22)
The last time someone tried to update the anime classic Avatar: The Last Airbender, we ended up with the famously terrible movie by M. Night Shyamalan ( a cursed cultural artifact that makes fans cry to this very day). Fingers crossed the new Netflix series will be better… they definitely nailed the casting, with Kim's Convenience star Paul Sun-Hyung Lee taking on the mantle of Uncle Iroh.
Big Names:
Griselda (Netflix, Jan. 25)
Modern Family 's Sofía Vergara takes a dramatic turn in this biographical drama about Griselda Blanco, drug queenpin and 'The Cocaine Godmother'. The six-part miniseries follows the story of Blanco as she moves from being a battered mother to one of the most feared cartel leaders of all time. Early reviews have been solid, with The Guardian calling the show 'so much fun it's appalling'.
The New Look (Apple TV+, Feb 14)
Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel, John Malkovich as Lucien Lelong, and Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior… The New Look uses Hollywood icons to tell the story of fashion icons. This biographical drama follows Dior as he navigates the world of Paris after WW2, when he revolutionized fashion with the line known as 'The New Look'.
Curtain Calls:
Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO, Feb. 4)
After 12 years, Curb Your Enthusiasm will be taking its final bow. Larry David has spent those years playing a fictionalized version of himself – no wonder he's getting tired. Expect a barrage of cameos from this iconic sitcom.
Blue Bloods ( CBS, Feb. 16)
Your mom's favorite show, Blue Bloods, is wrapping up after 14 seasons. Expect to see lots of old faces returning for cameos in this final chapter of the CBS procedural, which follows the lives of the Reagan clan. Three generations of the family work for NYPD law enforcement, including detective Danny (Donny Wahlberg) and police commissioner Frank (Tom Selleck ).
Adapted From Books:
3 Body Problem ( Netflix, March 31)
There are dozens of titles hitting your screens this year based on popular books. We're most excited for Netflix's 3 Body Problem, adapted from the novel by Liu Cixin. The book is nonlinear and difficult to explain without spoilers, but the twisty turny narrative deals with time, space, particle physics, love, and… aliens. You can watch it on Netflix as of March 21.
Expats (Prime, Jan. 26)
Nicole Kidman continues her career streak of 'wide eyed and upset mothers' with this adaptation of The Expatriates by Janice Y.K. Lee. Shot in Hong Kong during COVID, we've been looking forward to this limited series for a while.
