Even Jensen Ackles as Batman Won't Save DC, and This Deepfake Video Proves It
We have seen a lot of Batmans over the years. Will we see another one from our Supernatural fave – and do we really need to?
Jensen Ackles has close ties to the DC.
Back in 2010, he came pretty close to playing Batman when he voiced Jason Todd / Red Hood in Batman: Under the Red Hood.
Then, in 2021, he did become Batman in the two-part animated movie Batman: The Long Halloween – Ackles gave his voice to Bruce Wayne himself!
He returned to the role in 2023's Legion of Super-Heroes. Who knew Dean Winchester's "I am Batman!" line would turn out to be so prolific?
So many fans have been pining for Jensen to be the next Batman that this new deep fake video has only spiced up everyone's interest. Wonder why…
In this video, Jensen Ackles is "cast" as Bruce Wayne instead of Ben Affleck in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and it is pretty convincing (well, except for Affleck's jawline – no AI could hide that!).
The YouTube creator wanted to see what Ackles would look like if he were to play Batman in the upcoming James Gunn movie.
While many are up for it, and Jensen's chances are far from slim, there is a general belief that even he wouldn't be able to save DC. Why so negative?
For years, there has been talk in the fandom that enough is enough when it comes to Batman movies.
After numerous remakes, reboots, and different directors' visions, it seems that fans are getting sick and tired of Batman cinema, no matter how much the character himself is loved.
This feeds into the consensus that DC and other production studios need to let go of the past and stop retelling the same old stories.
The people have spoken – it is time to create new exciting ones. We couldn't agree more!
Sure, it would be nice to see Jensen join DC as the new Batman (Lord knows, he has proven that he can be good as a superhero-turned-villain in The Boys – who doesn't hate his guts there?), but do we really need him to revisit that old role when he is capable of so much more?
That remains to be decided by the big guns.
