Her revelation, however, did not sit well with some fans.

When Emma Watson shot to international fame with her portrayal of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, it seemed that the young actress had a promising career ahead of her.

As the years went by, however, it became clearer that this was not the case, as her appearances on the big and small screen were quite limited.

Although her Harry Potter co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint have not been amazingly successful either, they have continued their acting careers, appearing here and there to this day, while Watson has taken a break since her portrayal of Margaret March in 2019's Little Women.

In a recent interview, the actress shed light on her reasons for quitting acting four years ago. Watson said that she wasn't happy with the way things were going, as she felt "caged."

The actress got tired of being the face of the projects she was involved with, being held responsible for various controversies surrounding them, and having to answer all sorts of uncomfortable questions from journalists.

All of this led Watson to change her priorities and take a step back from the spotlight, which led to her directing a Prada ad campaign and helping her brother's gin company.

Still, she hopes to continue her acting career, just waiting for the right opportunity. This revelation has divided fans on social media.

While some fully support Watson's decision, as it is her right to do what she feels comfortable doing, and wish her success in her future endeavors, others are leaving rather spiteful comments.

They say that Emma is incredibly lucky to be able to basically stop working for four years because she is set for life by her Harry Potter paychecks, and that she is being overly dramatic about the situation.

Some even go so far as to say that Watson is "caged" by her own acting abilities, as her appearances outside of the Harry Potter films have not been that memorable.

Regardless of how you feel about her statement, as mentioned above, Emma Watson has every right to do what she feels is best for her.

And perhaps her next screen appearance will be just as good as her portrayal of Hermione, which made her famous in the first place.
