Following Jeremy Allen White’s 2020 horror The Rental that’s been fascinating the streaming’s viewers recently, another thrilling movie about some problems you might have with rented places has resurfaced after being released back in 2022.
Starring Bill Skarsgård as mysterious housemate Keith, Barbarian follows young woman Tess who rents a house in Detroit for the time that she needs to stay there for her job interview. Upon her arrival, Tess discovers that the house was booked twice for the same period of time and another tenant is already staying there.
Seeing that the only possible option to rent is located in a dangerous neighborhood, Tess decides that she will be safer staying face to face with a stranger, but weird noises coming from the house’s basement make her doubt whether she made the right decision.
Having landed on Netflix more than a year ago, Barbarian is gaining its momentum again by becoming the second most-watched movie for the week of May 6, according to the FlixPatrol data, and chances are it may even make more of a progress.
The movie entered the top 10 chart only last week, at that time staying at the tenth position with more than 4.5 million views. At the time of writing, only Honeymoonish managed to outrun Barbarian in the Netflix chart.
Initially released back in 2022, Barbarian was quick to become a commercial and critical success grossing more than $45 million against the initial budget of only $4.5 million.
To this day the movie holds an impressive score of 93% from the critics and 71% from the audience having once again captivated everyone’s attention after it got to be the most streamed film on all the platforms upon its digital release in October of 2022.
Apart from Netflix, Barbarian can also be streamed on Prime Video.
