Christopher Nolan’s Favorite Movie Is Nothing You’d Expect
Aside from being a huge fan of Stanley Kubrick, the filmmaker revealed another movie he is ready to watch anytime.
Looking at Christopher Nolan 's impressive filmography, which consists of serious and sometimes rather dark movies, one might expect the director to have a similar taste in cinema.
And indeed, Nolan has praised the works of another iconic director, Stanley Kubrick, on several occasions, most notably 2001: A Space Odyssey, which he considers one of the greatest films of all time.
However, while speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, Nolan revealed another movie that he is always ready to watch, which is far from what you might have expected.
When asked what movie he can always watch when he finds it scrolling through the TV channels, Nolan replied with the expected "anything by Kubrick."
But then he added that he also enjoys great comedies like "Talladega Nights," which the filmmaker will "never be able to switch up."
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, a sports comedy directed by Adam McKay and starring Will Ferrell, was released in 2006 and told the story of titular NASCAR driver Ricky Bobby.
While it wasn't hailed as the best comedy ever made, it still got a pretty warm reception from both critics and fans, with Ferrell's performance and the racing aspects being considered the best parts of the movie.
The fact that Nolan even quoted the main character during the interview makes it clear that he is a big fan of the film, which surprised many fans.
They jokingly point out that the legendary director is apparently not so different from "mere mortals" as his tastes seem to be quite down to earth.
Fans join him in praising Talladega Nights, which some consider to be one of the funniest movies ever made and quite underrated.
Others wonder what a comedy directed by Nolan would look like, and considering it is an unexplored genre for the filmmaker, the question is quite interesting indeed.
Who knows, maybe one day we'll get one, because after Nolan's recent huge success with Oppenheimer, he has yet to announce his next project.
