Chicago P.D’s Fan Favorite Returns to Dick Wolf’s Universe, but There’s a Twist
It’s not what you’d expect.
To say that Jesse Lee Soffer will forever be missed on Chicago P.D. would be an understatement. Many fans believe that it was the departure of the series veteran, who spent 10 years in his role of Jay Halstead, that led the show downhill.
Even though Chicago P.D. is renewed, the show continues to lose its key cast members and doesn't feel the same.
The latest news of Jesse Lee Soffer's return to Dick Wolf's universe unfortunately won't help the case of a Chicago universe in the least. The actor will be joining another of Wolf's projects that airs on a different network, FBI: International.
Who Will Jesse Lee Soffer Play on FBI: International?
Soffer will join the FBI: International season 4 as a series regular to take the place of fan-favorite character Supervisory Special Agent Scott Forrester after Luke Kleintank announced his departure from the show. Though fans are skeptical of anyone replacing him, the show will have to move forward with these adjustments.
While both procedurals are technically set to exist as part of a Dick Wolf universe, and Tracy Spiridakos, who portrayed Hailey Upton on P.D. but has since left the show, appeared as her character on FBI in 2020, Soffer will not be returning as Jay Halstead. Instead, he will take on a completely different role.
No matter how much love One Chicago fans have for Jay Halstead, his time has truly passed, and the actor doesn't seem to be turning around to reprise the role. Soffer, who left Chicago P.D. to explore new opportunities, was probably a proponent of introducing him in a new role that would probably charm viewers just as much.
For now, there aren't many updates on the FBI: International Team newcomer, as the character doesn't even have a name. Considering Forrester's position, it's safe to assume that Sofer's character will be a dedicated leader and an experienced agent with a lot of ambition.
