Star Jesse Lee Soffer left the show several times but always came back pronto, and this time is no different… Except it is. Soffer is back, sure; but there’s a catch.

Jesse Lee Soffer Is Back to Chicago PD

Many good things can be said about Jesse Lee Soffer as an actor: the man has been working non-stop since he was like 6 years old. Chicago PD, for one, got really lucky to have him on board — even though Soffer soon earned the reputation of a guy who leaves the show and returns to it three days later on a regular basis.

Not too long ago, the actor once again left Chicago PD, and fans have been speculating about (or should we say, waiting for) his return ever since. Great news, people: Jesse Lee Soffer is back, and that was confirmed by Tracy Spiridakos’ Instagram post from the set where in one of the photos, Soffer is having fun.

But while Jesse Lee Soffer is back, Jay Halstead… Isn’t. At least, not quite yet.

Jay Halstead Is Still Nowhere in Sight

Sure, Jesse Lee Soffer portrays Jay Halstead on Chicago PD — but who told you Soffer was back as an actor? Those are liars, people, don’t listen to them. The whole catch with the star’s return is that he’s not reprising his role just yet; at least, that’s not confirmed. What is, however, is Soffer’s new position as prepping director.

Season 11 won’t be the first time Soffer takes the director’s seat on Chicago PD, but it might just be the most permanent. Neither the showrunners nor the star actor himself have addressed Jay Halstead’s future on the show so far, and we’re expecting Jesse Lee Soffer to have fun in his new position for now.
