Charmaine’s Pregnancy Isn’t The Most Insane Virgin River Story

If there's a show that fans will have a more love-hate relationship with than Virgin River, we've yet to find it. No matter how absurd and unrealistic it gets at times, fans still love every second of it before taking it to the internet and expressing all the problems it has.

The duality of this relationship is great for promoting the show, but since the beginning, Virgin River has gotten a lot of traction on social media, which only makes more people watch it and get involved in the arguments.

The main issue fans have with the show is the pace. Cramming an entire season's worth of events into one month is a questionable choice, but making it feel like a year at the same time is certainly a hidden talent.

While Charmaine's season-long pregnancy was the telltale sign of these choices, she wasn't the only one affected. In fact, the relationships that happened for the rest of the cast made much less sense.

Why Did Virgin River’s Joey Get Married So Soon?

Thanks to the pacing, which plays tricks on the audience's brain every day, making things feel too fast and too slow at the same time, Joey's whole relationship arc landed very badly with the audience.

Virgin River wanted the audience to believe that Joey had divorced the man she had been with for many years, found someone new, and married him, which doesn't sound too bad until you look at the details. Not only were her children not in the picture for a second marriage, but the whole process took her about four months.

While this is definitely something that can happen to people in real life, it doesn't feel realistic under the circumstances. First of all, even the simplest divorce in California would take about half a year to finalize, but that's not even the least bit believable.

The change from blissful married life to devastation, to romantic happiness again, says a lot about either the poor writing of the character or Joey's complete emotional immaturity. And neither is good for her story.
