Bridgerton’s Shonda Rhimes Teases up to 7 Seasons, but Fans Are Still Worried
Is there a chance someone will get left behind?
One of the tricky things about adapting a book franchise is doing justice to all of its parts. Game of Thrones has already made the mistake of picking up an unfinished product, while Shadow and Bone mixed too many book plots at once, leading to the show's eventual cancellation.
Looking at the number of Bridgerton books, fans of the franchise would expect the same number of seasons from Netflix 's adaptation. 8 books match 8 Bridgerton siblings, each telling a separate love story and expanding the world of Regency aristocratic society and its rules.
How Many Seasons Are There in Bridgerton?
So far, Bridgerton has only been officially renewed by Netflix for the fourth season, but given the extreme success of the last season, fans expect the studio to greenlight at least two more seasons in the coming months. Shonda Rhimes, the executive producer behind the show, is also teasing many more years to come.
According to Deadline, Rhimes mentioned that she and her team have discussed seasons 6 and 7. However, this leaves longtime fans of the franchise worried about the 8th sibling being left without its own season, or the possible combination of two seasons in the years to come.
In the books, it's the 8th Bridgerton sibling, Gregory, who finds the love of his life last. While it's hard to imagine the boy portrayed by Will Tilston on the show being a romantic lead just yet, given that each season takes about two years to film, by a potential season 8 he'll be grown enough to bring the book's story to life.
Of course, given the showrunners' tendency to change the order of the siblings, there's a chance he won't be left until the end of the show anyway. Either way, whoever ends up at number 8 on the list, fans can only hope that they get their own season, just like every other Bridgerton sibling has.
For now, though, there is no need to worry about that. With season 3 over, fans of the show are now eagerly waiting for Netflix and Shondaland to announce who will be leading Bridgerton season 4. So if you are interested, be sure to keep an eye out for any news or updates.
