Speaking to Variety at the 2024 Met Gala, Jonathan Bailey praised the show, calling it ‘one of the biggest, most beautiful gifts’. What the actor also shared is the story of his personal journey from a supporter of the show to one of the cast members in the upcoming season:

“I had a mutual friend who knew [executive producer Patrick Walters] and I just said, 'If there’s anything I could do to help and be a part of that story,’” the actor said.

For the time being, Bailey has refused to reveal any more details about his involvement in the season, so as not to spoil the surprise that awaits Heartstopper viewers. Even the number of days the actor spent filming is being kept under wraps. What is known is the role he will be playing.

Jonathan Bailey will play Jack Maddox, a charismatic author who is very popular on social media and happens to be one of Charlie's biggest celebrity crushes.

Those who have read all of Oseman's graphic novels know how many hilarious scenes this character has with both of the show's leads, and those who haven't are simply celebrating another talented actor joining the cast.

Heartstopper Season 3 Cast Changes

Jonathan Bailey isn't the only new member of the Heartstopper cast for season 3. It has also been announced that Hayley Atwell and Eddie Marsan will also be joining the show. Atwell will portray Nick Nelson's aunt, while Marsan will appear as Charlie's therapist, both of whom provide some helpful advice.

Season 2 marked the final appearance of Sebastian Croft's Ben Hope. Olivia Coleman, who played Nick's mother for the past two seasons, will also not appear in season 3 due to a scheduling conflict. However, the star is open to returning for season 4 if the show is renewed by Netflix.
