One would think that adapting a book into a TV series will be easier than adapting it into a movie, and that's true: the longer run allows the show to fit many more of the details that the movie would skip.

But still, the adaptation has to be different from the book simply because it's a different medium. In the case of Virgin River, however, some changes are quite drastic and not really related to the differences between the media formats.

The book series Virgin River by Robyn Carr has lots of fans who enjoyed the TV adaptation, but still, the differences seriously change the narrative and the motivations of the characters.

The Netflix show adds seemingly unnecessary drama to some plotlines, trying to make the storyline more exciting instead of touching.

And despite the significant runtime, the TV adaptation tends to rush things compared to the books.

What could've been considered a slow burn turns into a swiftly developing relationship in a show, and it loses a bit of impactfulness and realism because of it.

One thing that the show overlooked is some conditions of the characters that impact their development, so it's interesting how things will turn out.
