Bizarre Theory Explains Parks and Rec's Biggest Jerry Mystery (And It’s Cringey)
Ben Wyatt would have never guessed.
Summary:
- No one on the show could understand what made Gayle, the beauty queen, marry Jerry.
- Apparently, his wife could have been a sex addict.
- Jim O'Heir deserved something great in his character's life.
Parks and Recreation is one of the most entertaining shows ever created, but it seems that the hilarious series about local government workers does not get enough credit. Still, the show has a huge following with many fans who adore Leslie Knope's outlook on life and the way she treats her friends.
Since it is an ensemble cast show, there are many characters that are in the spotlight and each of them has their extraordinary personality traits that make them unique. Just as Tom is the creative guy who also ends up being the loser most of the time, April is the dark queen of the office, but a caring, bright soul inside. Andy is just a funny, goofy guy that we adore.
And then there's Jerry, who also goes by Gary (his real name) and Larry (his second fake name). Jerry is the piñata of the sitcom, as he is beaten by every character. His co-workers seem to live for making fun of Jerry. But frankly, while sometimes they were too harsh for no reason, most of the time he was so clumsy and awkward that it was impossible to ignore.
However, it seems that Jerry had two completely different personalities: the bumbling government employee at work and the happily married, wholesome guy at home. And what left all the characters on the show, as well as the viewers, scratching their heads in confusion was how he ended up marrying a woman so out of his league.
His wife Gayle only appeared a few times in the series, but it was enough to make us all wonder. And since the show gave no explanation, fans got extra creative.
Fans Believe Gayle Was a Sex Addict
Reddit offered a pretty crazy explanation of Jerry's happy marriage mystery: his wife is simply… a sex addict. We can’t say that it is something totally based on fantasy as there are several facts proving it.
For example, in one episode the doctor was checking all the Pawnee male citizens' genitals and mentioned that Jerry has the longest penis that he had ever seen.
“She locked him down, and they immediately popped out three children early on. At this point I am assuming that they had to do something to keep from getting too many children, so Jerry opted for a vasectomy. From this point on, Jerry and Gayle had a very happy marriage, with sex being the glue that keeps them extremely cheerful” Redditor runningforpresident said.
Jerry also once mentioned that he wasn't so chubby when he was young, but had a figure like Chris, who was best known for his athleticism. So it seems like the theory checks out.
There Is Another Explanation From The Showrunners
While the story seems cool enough to use it, there is another thing to consider. Apparently, the creators of the shoe, as long as the whole crew felt bad about the fact that Jerry is always made fun of by everyone on the sitcom. And since actor Jim O'Heir was the most likable guy on the set, the writers decided to give his character at least one good thing.
So they made Jerry a perfect person at home with his loved ones and let him suffer at work. Well, it sure paid off!
