Best Stranger Things Trios, Ranked
Stranger Things is not only about scary monsters and exciting storylines, but also the dynamic between its characters, especially the trios that form throughout the series.
This series is not exclusively about Mike, Will and El, as they're already the show's most popular and recognizable crew.
Here are some of our beloved crews from the Netflix horror hit that are not exactly the Golden Trio.
1. Steve, Dustin and Robin
One of the show's most unexpected and delightful trios, Steve, Dustin and Robin come together in season three to uncover a Russian conspiracy beneath the Starcourt Mall.
Steve, the former popular jock turned babysitter, forms an unlikely friendship with Dustin, the nerdy science enthusiast, and Robin, the witty ice cream shop employee.
Their banter and chemistry make for some of the funniest and most heartwarming moments in the series.
The awkward relationship between Steve and Robin reaches a very powerful climax, with drama that is slightly diluted by Dustin. Maybe Steve didn't find a new girlfriend after breaking up with Nancy, but he did get a real friend.
2. Joyce, Hopper, and Murray (and don't forget Alexey!)
Joyce, Hopper and Murray team up in the third season to investigate the strange happenings in Hawkins and uncover the Russian conspiracy.
Joyce, the determined mother of Will and Jonathan, has a complicated past with Hopper, the gruff and protective chief of police.
Murray, the quirky investigative journalist, adds a humorous and intellectual dimension to the trio. Together they make a formidable team.
The trio tries to get information from Russian scientist Alexey, but then shows him the true freedom of not having to answer to anyone.
At the end of the season, they try to protect a slightly awkward guy, but fail, even though he dies with a smile on his face after discovering another world, leaving our hearts broken.
3. Dustin, Lucas and Max
In the second season, the boys form a trio after Max joins the group and Dustin falls in love with her. Lucas is initially jealous of Dustin's crush, which leads to some tense moments between the three of them.
However, they eventually come together to save Hawkins from the Mind Flayer.
Their friendship continues to grow in season three as Max and Lucas become a couple, and Dustin forms a new bond with Steve and Robin.
A classic love triangle between two best friends. But despite the jealousy, this trio forms a pretty powerful alliance capable of standing up to the evil lurking beneath Hawkins.
The trios in Stranger Things add depth and complexity to the already compelling characters and plot.
Whether they're battling supernatural monsters or investigating Soviet conspiracies, these crews demonstrate the importance of teamwork in a small town somewhere in Indiana.
