Knives Out 3 Was Destined to Be

After the first two movies shook up the world of mystery pictures, it was mostly a matter of patient waiting for another Knives Out installment to be made. Rian Johnson, the director of the Daniel Craig-led detective movie series, started teasing the next film as early as 2022 when Glass Onion was still running in theaters.

The actors’ and writers’ strikes obviously postponed Knives Out 3, like every other project in Hollywood, but as soon as they ended, Johnson gave a heads-up.

“It’s coming along. I obviously couldn’t work during the strike, and now that it’s over, I’m diving in full force, and so it’s coming along. I’ve got the premise, I’ve got the setting, I’ve got what the movie is in my head. It’s just a matter of writing the damn thing,” the director joked at the end of 2023.

Knives Out 3 in Active Development

There have been few official updates lately, but there are speculations and information from sources circulating about — and they all say that Knives Out 3 starts filming at the end of this year. Cameras are estimated to start rolling in November 2024, and the movie should most likely be out by Christmas 2025.

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the charming private investigator Benoit Blanc, but the details of the story are yet to be revealed. If the previous two installments are anything to go by, Knives Out 3 will be another standalone mystery that’s only connected to the other stories by the persona of Benoit Blanc himself.
