Are There Any Sex Scenes in 'Bones and All'?
Newest Timothée Chalamet film, reuniting him with 'Call Me By Your Name' creator Luca Guadagnino, is already creating major Oscar buzz after Venice Film Festival premiere.

'Bones and All ' is poised to become one of the most talked about films of this fall season, having been created around some pretty dark and disturbing themes like cannibalism. The story about two young cannibals in love, struggling with their nature, at one point could've become even more scandalous, but after all, there are no sex scenes in 'Bones and All' between Timothee Chalamet and Taylor Russell's characters.
Gradually falling in love, two young cannibals end up choosing not to have sex because of how risky it is; swayed by temptation, by raw desire, it would be too easy for one of them to just give in and start biting their partner – and that would be the end of either one of them.
Plot-wise, it actually makes a lot of sense; 'Bones and All', while being a love story among other things, focuses on coming to terms with one's self, on ethical struggles, and added physicality, many fans believe, would shift that important focus, even weaken the message somewhat. Early reviewers do note that Timothee Chalamet and Taylor Russell's insane chemistry definitely makes up for the lack of sex scenes, so fans who actually expected something intimate between two main characters won't be that disappointed.
The absence of sex scenes is also nothing new for the director: if you take a closer look at Luca Guadagnino's work, you'll notice that there are no detailed sex scenes in his films. Of course there are scenes establishing intimacy, establishing chemistry, attraction between two characters, but there's never a sexual act itself being showed on screen, only events leading up to it, 'Call Me By Your Name' and 'We Are Who We Are' being two prime examples.
Although Maren (Taylor Russell) and Lee (Timothée Chalamet) do not have a sexual relationship in the movie, there is a sex scene (albeit not graphic) after all – without giving away too much, it's a scene involving one of the two main characters.
'Bones and All' is set to premiere in US theaters November 24, 2022.
