All that noise for the drama that never happens.

When a show has been on the air as long as General Hospital has, it's no wonder fans let some things slide.

Questionable recasts, repetitive storylines, and character relationships that either don't make sense or take too long to come together.

But no matter how patient the audience is, there's always a final straw that can completely break the trust in the writers.

It seems that the conclusion of the last storyline between Joss, Dex and Sonny may be the last straw for a good part of the fanbase.

The number of times the show has teased a huge reaction from Sonny when he finds out about Joss and Dex is ridiculous, especially compared to the reaction we actually got.

What's even more unfortunate is that fans noticed that these underwhelming endings were part of an already established pattern of Chris Van Etten and Dan O'Connor's co-writing.

"That is how all the stories go on GH with Chris and Dan as head writers. They revolve [the] characters' whole story on some drama that never happens. It makes no sense why it is so hard to write a good climatic ending or why they don't even try. This is a soap that doesn't soap," Redditor TCalikool said, summing up the fans' confusion and disappointment perfectly.

Although the subtle reaction seems more in character for Sonny than the torture of Dex that was previously implied, viewers still don't understand why the writers need to stir the pot with non-existent drama.

One would think that with so many characters and storylines, there wouldn't be a need to rely so much on the outcome that never happens, but time and time again, General Hospital proves otherwise.

With the recent 60th anniversary of the show, loyal fans will always turn a blind eye to such missteps.

However, it's time for the writers to think about where they want to take the characters and how they want to develop them further.

Otherwise, the chances of a quick end to the series will only increase with each new day on the air.
