Clark Kent comes in all shapes and sizes — throughout the long history of Superman he has been portrayed by 11 people on the screen, and we decided to rank all the versions of him.
We didn't focus on the actors only — we accounted for those who landed their voices to the character, too. And yes, we're biased.
What makes a good Superman? Is it his smile? Is it his Olympic god's physique?
Is it the general personality of a golden retriever who can actually bend you in a pretzel but will never do so if you're not an alien invader? It's hard to say. Superman is more than just a character now: he was born as an idea but turned into an icon.
Throughout the years, actors tried to infuse this character with their gimmicks, and not all of them succeeded. Others did a great job at filling these huge shoes, creating a believably loveable hero tormented by the amount of power he is forced to handle and the threats that loom over his loved ones because of his mere existence.
His persona is large, and portraying him is no easy task. Perhaps we need a real Superman for that.
