AI Imagines Doctor Who’s 60th Finale, and It Sounds Insanely Realistic
Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary is a big deal, which is why viewers are getting three special episodes to celebrate the occasion.
The episodes, titled The Star Beast, Wild Blue Yonder, and The Giggle, will be coming out in November 2023. While little is known about the plot of each special, people have been playing the guessing game for a while, but one fan truly went above and beyond.
One Doctor Who TV writer asked the AI to predict the storylines of the anniversary episodes, and here is what he got for the grand finale.
According to the AI, the Doctor (David Tennant) and Donna (Catherine Tate) find themselves in modern-day London, which has been taken over by “an infectious giggle.” People start dancing as soon as they hear it, and they can’t seem to stop.
Turns out, the Celestial Toymaker (Neil Patrick Harris), the Doctor’s old enemy, is the one who orchestrated the whole thing via a specific giggle frequency for one purpose only – he wants to make Earth his new playground ruled by chaos.
Unable to resist the spell, the Doctor has a dance-off with the Toymaker. However, he eventually breaks free just for a moment, but this is enough to send Donna off to UNIT for help. The Toymaker intercepts their attempt to get in touch with UNIT.
With the help of the powerful organization, Donna turns the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver into a frequency jammer that can lift the Toymaker’s evil spell. Now they just need to use the device without being affected by the giggle – they do it successfully, and the city is free.
Unfortunately, the Doctor is too weak from all the dancing and resisting the giggle, which prompts him to regenerate.
Honestly, this AI-generated plot is not too shabby! We highly doubt that the Doctor’s main reason for regenerating will be the physical and mental exhaustion (though it is such a mood), but other than that the story sounds completely Doctor Who-esque.
Fans are convinced that Harris’ character is, in fact, the Celestial Toymaker, the Doctor’s iconic archnemesis from the Classic Who, so the AI’s reasoning seems legit. We wonder how much of Doctor Who’s 60th-anniversary finale plot the AI has actually gotten right. A few more months to go, and all our questions will be answered!
