8 Deleted Scenes Harry Potter Fans Were Robbed Of
Many fans still mourn the fact that these scenes never made it to the big screen.
The cult film adaptations of J.K. Rowling's novels could have been even more poignant, profound and dramatic if the creators had decided to keep these scenes in the final versions of the films.
8. Tube Ride
There was one remarkable moment in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone that didn't make it into the regular version, but which added to the film's magical charm through its good-natured humor. In one scene, Harry is riding with Hagrid on the London Underground, discussing fantastical creatures. Seeing a half-giant creature struggling to fit into a low-ceilinged subway is incredibly funny (and probably creepy to Muggles).
7. Harry and Hermione's Conversation
Even though they are best friends, Harry and Hermione didn't talk face to face very often in the movies, which makes every scene like this precious. This deleted moment was incredibly touching, as Harry realized how much he needed his friends, and acknowledged the growing feelings between Ron and Hermione.
6. Ron Teaches Hermione to Skip Stones
Deathly Hallows — Part 1 was a real lull before the heartbreaking storm of the finale, and as such the movie focused largely on strengthening the bond between the main characters. One of the most touching but sadly deleted scenes was Ron and Hermione's sweet time together, which showed more of the development of their relationship.
5. Remus and Tonks Final Embrace
Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks are not only one of the most fan-favorite couples, but also one of the most disturbing and tragic. Unfortunately, the films don't go into much detail about their relationship, which is why every second of their dialogue is worth a lot. Sadly, the scene where they embrace before they die was cut from Deathly Hallows — Part 2.
4. Harry's Dialog with Petunia
Unfortunately, there are virtually no moments in the movies that delve into the psyche and motivations of the Dursleys, especially Petunia. However, in Deathly Hallows — Part 1, before Harry's family leaves the house to avoid being captured by the Death Eaters, Petunia takes one last look around the house and reveals her trauma. She mentions that not only Harry has lost his mother, but she also lost her sister, and is well aware of how dangerous the Death Eaters are. This perfectly explains Petunia's grief, which has turned into an open hatred of wizards.
3. Final Chat with Dudley
In another deleted scene, Harry says goodbye to Dudley, which was an incredibly touching farewell despite their history of mutual hatred (though he has reconsidered his attitude toward Harry since the rescue). Dudley disobeys his father, who pushes him into the car, and humorously approaches Harry, who is seeing them off, to shake his hand one last time and tell him that he is not a 'waste of space' after all.
2. In Noctem
Snape is one of the most ambiguous characters in the franchise, but he has always a hero in the shadows. Such was the case with his decision to save Draco by agreeing to kill Dumbledore instead of him. Although it was a personal request of Albus, Severus clearly could not forgive himself for this decision, it was disheartening and footsore, which is perfectly expressed in Alan Rickman's facial expressions.
1. Draco Helped Harry in the Final Battle
Despite their loyalty to Voldemort, the Malfoys switched sides at the last minute, allowing Draco to redeem himself. In the movie, however, his moral turmoil could have been shown in a much poignant way: in one scene, when Harry escaped dodging Voldemort's direct fire, Draco tossed a wand to him, showing his true nature and allegiance.
