7 Wholesome Shows to Binge After Ted Lasso if You’re Feeling Down

It’s not a Roy Kent spinoff, but definitely worth watching.

The world we live in can be tough, and it usually is. We go through so many things in our daily lives that when we come home to relax in front of the television, it's only natural that we want to watch something comforting, something that gives us hope.

One of those shows, and for many viewers probably the most uplifting of all, was Ted Lasso. It's the story of a positivity-minded football coach who made everyone believe (even when there was literally no one behind his back).

So if you haven't seen it yet, we can't recommend it more, but if you're feeling blue after watching the series and want more of the similar vibe, then check out these 7 shows.

1. Shrinking (2023)

Where to stream: Apple TV+

Another Apple TV Plus series that will leave you satisfied. Shrinking was created by the amazing pros Brett Goldstein and Bill Lawrence, who made Ted Lasso, and Jason Segel.

In the show, Segel plays the role of a struggling single dad named Jimmy who lost his wife and is now trying to make things right for his only child.

He is also a therapist who uses provocative methods with his clients that do not always work... Sharing the screen with him is Harrison Ford: the star plays Jimmy's grumpy old friend who is also a therapist.

The many difficulties Jimmy faces in his life, along with all the other relatable characters, will make you think about your own life and how important it is to be surrounded by the right people.

2. The Good Place ( 2016-2020)

Where to stream: Netflix

We don't usually think much about what happens right after we die, do we? We just live our lives, hoping that no one will see us acting like jerks and that all our good deeds will be counted for sure.

The Good Place features characters who never thought about their afterlife either, but ended up in the Good Place. Or so they thought…

The show gives us a brilliant, if fantastical, depiction of how every action counts when we make it our mission to be a really good person, and how easy it actually is to become one.

3. Schitt’s Creek (2015-2020)

Where to stream: Hulu

This is probably the best family-oriented series we could ever recommend to you. The story centers on the Rose family, formerly 1%, who were forced to leave their huge house and move to a small town somewhere off the beaten path.

Moira Rose was a professional actress and hates her new life, David is a snob who knows nothing about connecting with people, Alex is a spoiled brat, and it seems that Johny Rose, the father of the family, is the only one trying to find the good in the situation.

Join the journey of their complete transformation and be ready to fall in love with every character you see on your screen (maybe even Roland sometimes).

4. What We Do In The Shadows (2019-2024)

Where to stream: Hulu

Based on a 2014 movie of the same name, this series is a comedy horror mockumentary on vampires, created by Jemaine Clement. This series is a glimpse into the lives of traditional vampires Nandor, Laszlo, and Nadja and their colleague energy vampire Colin Robinson, living their lives on Staten Island.

They constantly find themselves trapped in different ridiculous situations, often connected to the real world, or even supernatural creatures unlike them.

“My opinion is that it's almost as good as the original films, but I'd say it's almost better just because it's longer and it's going a bit more in-depth with the technicalities of this vampire-universe,” one Redditor said.

5. Derry Girls ( 2018-2022)

Where to stream: Netflix

For those who like to mix historical dramas with teen dramas, this series will be a perfect catch. Set in the 1990's in Northern Ireland, the series just has a unique vibe, which of course includes the troubles of the time.

At the center of the series is a 16-year-old girl named Erin Quinn and her cousin Orla. Together with their friends, they try to manage their lives in a difficult time in Derry, constantly getting into absurd situations, but still finding their way out of them.

6. Welcome to Wrexham (2022)

Where to stream: Hulu

Welcome to Wrexham is the true, ongoing story of a Welsh football team owned by A-list Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

The stars take viewers into the real world of the sport, adding their own emotions to the experience. The show has run for two seasons, with the third about to premiere.

“It's fantastic. I've actually cried several times watching this documentary. Love R&R, but I feel connected to the players and the fans. Up the Town!!!!’ Redditor Icy_Accountant6989 said.

7. Acapulco

Where to stream: Apple TV+

Sometimes we create an image of something in our minds, like a dream, and we make it our mission to achieve it no matter what. Such was the case with a young Mexican man named Maximo, whose only dream was to get a job at the hottest resort in Acapulco.

But as always, the ideal image in his head had nothing to do with the reality in which he found himself. And the job of a lifetime turned out to be much more complicated than he ever imagined.

“I binged Acapulco while i was watching Ted Lasso, trying to extend my first viewing lol. And I really really liked it,” Redditor No_Excitement9224 said.
