Mentalist, one of CBS's best procedurals, ended in 2015, having had seven seasons over the course of seven years.

But even now, quite a few years after the finale, fans are still widely discussing it and sharing their opinions — the series has definitely not become less attractive over time.

Often, those are either general or episode-specific discussions, but sometimes, they turn out really interesting.

Today, the Mentalist fans shared what characters, storylines, and plot choices they would like to erase from the show for good — and here's what they say.

Rigsby and VanPelt's leave

This cute couple never joined the FBI with Jane, Lisbon, and Cho, and they only came back a couple of times later, almost like guest stars.

It would've been nice to see them involved in later seasons more — as private investigators, for example.

Summer's return

The entire plotline of Cho and Summer should've remained done and dusted when she left the city. Having her return for one episode only to use Cho was unnecessary, and Cho deserved better than that.

Vega's death

The newest team member, Vega was a wholesome character who largely appealed to the audience. We get it plot-wise: Jane needed a solid reason to leave the FBI.

But killing Vega like this was just unnecessarily cruel — especially towards Wylie.

Pyke's interference

Agent Pyke was definitely needed in the plot: who knows how long it would've taken Jane to admit his feelings for Lisbon otherwise.

But since he did practically try to steal her from the mentalist, some people would've preferred it if he never came around at all.

Erica Flynn's… existence

This twisted and charming woman served no purpose in the main story, but she kept appearing in separate episodes to tease Jane and Lisbon and involve them in some shady business.

Many fans dislike her for that and prefer she'd never existed.

Rigsby Sr. as a whole

Wayne Rigsby's old man was an unlikeable character, to say the least. While it's definitely realistic that Rigsby Jr. couldn't bring himself to outright hate him and still craved his approval… It would've been better if he never entered his son's life again.

Jane's family murder

While the series would've never existed without it in the first place, many fans just want Jane to be happy with his family, and that's it. But, in this scenario, he would've also remained an immoral fraud, so there's that to consider, too.
