When we need a great love story, we often turn to South Korean dramas. 1. Nevertheless – Park Jae-eon and Yu Na-bi

Well, there are many K-drama fans who consider this rom-com a complete waste of time. And one of the most commonly cited reasons for such a harsh conclusion is that the main couple is a huge disappointment. Although the writers have tried to make it look like they had a perfect ending, the viewers just don't buy it.

It seems like the couple of Park Jae-eon and Yu Na-bi wouldn't last more than a week in reality. The only way their toxic relationship could succeed is if Jae-eon's personality changed 180 degrees, but that was not the case in the series: the forced redemption arc failed.

2. Boys Over Flowers – Gu Jun-pyo and Geum Jan-di

Another pretty much unlikable K-drama couple is Jun-pyo and Jan-di in Boys Over Flowers. As it often happens in South Korean romance dramas, the male lead of the series is this rich and arrogant man and the female main character is a flawless girl with strong beliefs.

He is a bully and she is his victim, and they start to develop feelings for each other, which is ultimately a red flag that would grow into a huge problem if they start a relationship. Their so-called love is based on mutual emotional violence and has nothing to do with genuine and pure feelings.

3. Secret Love – Jo Min-hyuk and Kang Yoo-jung

Secret Love was released more than ten years ago, but the ridiculously lousy couple at the center of the story still annoys viewers. The situation they found themselves in is just so cringeworthy, because she, Yoo-jung, is an ex-convict who spent time in prison instead of her boyfriend, who accidentally killed a woman.

After a while she meets the ex-boyfriend of the dead woman and they fall in love. Well, we understand that the idea was to make something romantic out of it, but this is just plain messed up: building a romance on top of a death scenario. The viewers are sure that the relationship is doomed because the people in it would go insane sooner or later.

4. The Doctors – Hong Ji-hong and Yoo Hye-jung

For those who don't remember, this K-drama is actually a medical series with a huge romantic twist in it. The first thing that makes us keep our distance from the main couple is the age gap between them.

The series revolves around Hye-jung, a young doctor who grew up as a delinquent but changed her life for the better after meeting an older doctor, Ji-hong, who became more than a mentor to her.

The other thing that made fans of South Korean dramas dislike the couple is the unbelievable twist: after being separated for 13 years, the student and her teacher didn't lose their feelings and ended up together again. Sorry, that's a pass.

5. Fight For My Way – Ko Dong Man and Choi Ae Ra

As much as the fans of the series wanted to root for its main couple, it just seems impossible to do, for many reasons. However the most important one is that the writers of the series have spent almost no time showing why the couple of insecure people should be together.

The female lead of the series, Kang Dan Yi, falls in love with Cha Eun Ho, and ultimately we feel that they are on different sides of life.

Viewers all agree that the chemistry between the main couple was amazing, but that doesn't change the fact that they were wrong for each other. Mainly because they had different goals in life, and the issue wasn't resolved even at the end of the story. He wants to have a family and be a father, and she still doesn't really understand what to do with her own life. And of course there's the age gap that we all love so much.
