Creative multi-hyphenate Donald Glover is behind this black comedy / drama / psychological thriller. Dre is a young woman obsessed with a pop star, and that obsession takes some pretty dark and unexpected turns. The body count starts in the first episode and never lets up, but there are some laughs sprinkled throughout.

Interesting Fact: Barack Obama's daughter Malia was one of the writers on the show.

The Consultant

Released: February 17, 2023

If you're looking for an actor to portray sociopathic menace with a tiny dash of comedy, you hire Christoph Waltz. Here the Academy Award winner stars as a mysterious consultant for a mobile gaming company, who appears after the CEO was killed at work. His sinister behavior gets increasingly terrifying as the series goes on, and there are some bonkers twists and turns along the way.

Interesting Fact: The Consultant is based on a book of the same name by Bentley Little.

Wilderness

Released: September 15, 2023

Liv and Will have a seemingly perfect life, but when his infidelity is revealed she begins plotting his death. Along the way, their pasts will be uncovered and the wrong person will turn into a corpse… more than once.

Wilderness has been described as both trashy and camp – but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Variety, for instance, described the 6-episode series as 'A Trashy, Twisted Masterclass in Vengeance'.

The Power

Fingers crossed we'll get another few seasons out of this one, as the book contains a lot of material that hasn't been covered yet.

Harlan Coben's Shelter

Released: August 18, 2023

The Shelter follows the story of teenager Mickey Bolitar. After the death of his father, Mickey moves to a new school and makes a connection with fellow student Ashley Kent. When Ashley disappears, Mickey goes searching for the truth and discovers that it goes deeper than he could have imagined, with connections to child smuggling rings and his own father.

Sadly, Shelter has been canceled and there will be no second season.

Interesting Fact: Shelter is the first book in a series of three by popular mystery writer Harlan Coben. Mickey Boliar is the nephew of one of Coben's most popular characters.

Sebastian Fitzek's Therapy

Two years ago, the daughter of an esteemed psychologist disappeared without a trace. Now he is isolated and trying to cope with the trauma – but a mysterious woman appears, and she seems to know more than she should about the case of the missing girl.

Filmed in German but available with subtitles, this 6-episode series flew under the radar but is well worth the watch.
