These moments might have made parents rethink letting their kids watch SpongeBob.

We all love the underwater antics of SpongeBob, Patrick, and the rest of the Bikini Bottom crew. But let's be real, some episodes have moments that make us feel confused or even uncomfortable. These weird and disturbing moments in the show really might have messed with your head a bit.

Squidward's Trip Through Hell

In the episode where a mysterious anchor crashes into Squidward's house, the trio — SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward — climb up the anchor's rope and meet the Flying Dutchman. Squidward, being his usual grumpy self, gives the Dutchman a piece of his mind.

As a result, he is sent on a trip through what can only be described as hell, which looks like a twisted version of Alice in Wonderland, and it's pretty unsettling.

SpongeBob's Halloween Prank Gone Wrong

SpongeBob decides to scare everyone at Mr. Krabs' Halloween party by dressing up as the Flying Dutchman. All goes well until the real Flying Dutchman shows up and reveals something truly terrifying under SpongeBob's sheet — sponge’s eerie exposed brain with the eyes staring out.

Squidward's Foot Fiasco

In the episode House Fancy, Squidward is trying to make his house look luxurious for a TV show. He asks SpongeBob for help, and SpongeBob jams a couch into Squidward's foot multiple times. The visual is pretty gruesome, to say the least.

Face Freeze

SpongeBob and Patrick are warned not to make too many faces, or their faces will freeze that way. Do they listen? Nope. Their faces end up looking absolutely grotesque. It's funny but also kind of terrifying, especially if you were a kid watching this.

Squidward's Time Travel

Squidward freezes himself and wakes up 2000 years in the future. He finds a time machine but gets sent way too far back, even before the beginning of time. At first, he enjoys the solitude, but it soon turns into a torment. It's a weird episode that can play with your mind.

Squidward's Hallucinations

Mr. Krabs gets injured and leaves Squidward in charge of the Krusty Krab. Squidward promotes SpongeBob to cashier and fry cook, essentially doing nothing all day. But he starts imagining disastrous scenarios at the Krusty Krab, driving himself mad to the point of hallucinations.
