6 New K-Dramas Coming To Netflix In January 2024
Be prepared to be taken away.
With the beginning of every month, streaming platforms release new TV shows and movies to keep their viewers happy, because while it is fun to rewatch your old favorites, it is even more interesting to try something new. The same is certainly true for K-dramas.
Fans of the genre binge watch series like The Glory or Twinkling Watermelon, but secretly hope that the new series will be even better. For the first month of the year, Netflix has prepared many new things to be released, and these six K-dramas are among them.
1. Marry My Husband — January 1
January 1 will already come bearing gifts in the form of the fantasy romance K-drama called Marry My Husband. The premise of the show is to find your self-worth by getting another chance at life. The main character of the show, Ji Won, is a workaholic woman who can't even find peace at home: after a long day at work, she comes home and does all the chores as well.
One day she learns that she has cancer. As if that wasn't enough, she catches her husband cheating on her with her best friend. Life kills Ji Won, but it seems that God has another plan for her, because instead of dying, she ended up 10 years back in time, ready to rebuild her life from scratch.
2. Gyeongseong Creature (Part 2) — January 4
Gyeongseong Creature is probably the most anticipated K-drama of 2024. The first part of the season left viewers craving for more, and the cliffhanger finale made things even worse for the fans. So now they are ready to find out how the journey of Jang Tae Sang and Yun Chae Ok will end and whether they will succeed in their mission.
Set in the 1940s, the series is a mix of period drama and fantasy. The main characters are trying to solve the mysterious murders that have been happening for a long time. But in the middle of the investigation, they find out that there's something sinister going on.
“I will never tire of dramas set during the era of the Japanese occupation of Joseon, with their lavish period detail and fascinating historical insights. This drama delivers on the expected cinematic quality as well,” Redditor Telos07 said.
3. The Bequeathed — January 19
The creator of this series is the same Yeon Sang-H who was behind the hit movie Train to Busan, so you know that this K-drama is going to be a good one. The spine-tingling series will revolve around a woman who suddenly inherits... a gravesite. The unlikely inheritance came from her uncle, whom she had long forgotten.
After receiving the "gift," the many mysterious stories begin to unfold, leaving her wondering what was real in her life before and the truth about her family starts to reveal itself.
4. Badland Hunters — January 26
The fantasy action drama Badland Hunters is finally ready to hit the screen. The story of the new series will focus on the new realities of life in Seoul after a major earthquake turns the city into an uninhabitable place. In this wasteland, we will see how people attempt to do their best to survive.
At the center of the story are Nam-san, a relentless wasteland hunter and his partner Choi Ji-wan, and Yang Gi-su, the doctor who managed to survive the disaster.
5. Doctor Slump — January 27
It's hard to find a person who doesn't love a good old-fashioned medical drama, especially one with a little comedy thrown in for good measure. If you're one of them, don't miss the premiere of one called Doctor Slump. The story of the series revolves around plastic surgeon Yeo Jung Woo and anesthesiologist Nam Ha Neu.
The thing is that Yeo Jung Woo's life got really complicated after a medical accident and now he thinks that he is absolutely doomed in this world. But then he meets Nam Ha-neul, and step by step, his life starts to change. For the better, of course.
6. Great Problem Solver — January 31
The South Korean TV industry also offers its own take on legal dramas, which seem to be as captivating as any other genre they succeed in. The story of the series revolves around Kim Sa Ra, who is considered to be the best divorce counselor in Korea. Next to her is Dong Ki Joon, a lawyer who works with Sa Ra for the divorce settlement company Solution.
Together, they have found the perfect way to punish spouses who have been unfaithful and caused great damage to their marriages.
