Remember the name
The show is called Chicago Fire for a reason, but that reason's almost forgotten. These days, there's far more focus on the soap-opera aspect of the series, and it's arguably one of the bigger issues.
Chicago Fire needs more actual fires, more rescues, more life-and-death tension… Give all companies something to work with!
Shake things up
It's been a while since the last major addition to the cast was made, and it was questionable; time's passed, and no one still understands why Carver even exists.
It's high time to bring in some fresh faces: both completely new actors and characters or even having a big-name star over would benefit the series greatly.

Good old trusty
The fans miss their first Chicago Fire crushes. Sure, one of the easiest ways to hype up the audience would be to bring back Severide or Casey, but the actors are currently dealing with personal issues; in the meantime, it would've been great to see old cast members like Mills or Hadley back on the show. Nostalgia is always good!
Play with fire
On the topic of fires and rescues, there've been all too many casual cases. What the show needs is a new major storyline — perhaps, after the set-up with Severide investigating those arsons somewhere unknown, it'll go there…
Either way, there has to be a big bad guy — some really unmatched arsonist of sorts. Un-matched, got it?

A wise man once said, "When in doubt, bring out the crossover". For Chicago Fire, the doubt is now — and luckily, any kind of crossover will be welcome now since it's been like three years after the previous one.
As one of the ways to introduce new characters and shake things up, a crossover can work wonders, and it's about time to do all of these things for Chicago Fire.
