5 Most Bone-Chilling American Horror Story Villains To Hype You Up Before Delicate
We still have bad dreams because of them.
On September 20, the 12th season of American Horror Story titled Delicate premiered. The horror anthology from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk will not end here – chapter 13 has already been announced.
To dive even deeper into the horror, we recalled the top five most terrifying villains and anti-heroes that have been associated with the most chilling AHS stories.
1. Sister Mary Eunice
The heart of American Horror Story season 2 is the tragic story of Mary Eunice. This is a good-natured and naive nun who was possessed by the insidious devil during an exorcism ritual.
The battle between light and darkness within Sister Mary Eunice was fascinating. The demon-possessed nun scared away Briarcliff's patients, brutally killed some of them, and woven diabolical intrigues along the way.
2. Oliver Thredson
Dr. Thredson is the most convincing wolf in sheep's clothing villain on AHS.
Before the reveal, the psychiatrist seemed like a decent fighter for justice, so his transformation into a true psycho was truly shocking, and the confrontation between journalist Lana Winters and him was terribly tense.
The villain is partly based on the madman Ed Gein, who made clothes out of human skin.
3. Twisty the Clown
Twisty the Clown from season 4 is one of the scariest horror clowns around. He's a fat, clumsy man, who, however, overtakes his victims terribly quickly – they don't even have time to come to their senses. Twisty has a terrifying mask in the shape of a smile, under which he hides a bloody mess instead of a mouth.
Twisty is inspired by the real-life serial killer John Wayne Gacy, also known as the Killer Clown.
4. Arthur Arden
Arthur Arden is the head physician at Briarcliff Psychiatric Hospital who has brutally abused his power. Dr. Arden used mentally ill patients in inhumane experiments. He mutilated and tortured his subjects, took away their limbs, and turned them into monsters.
The villain is based on Josef Mengele, a Nazi doctor who performed experiments on prisoners at the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II.
5. Tate Langdon
Tate Langdon has one of the most controversial and unsettling stories in the series.
In his lifetime, he carried out a school shooting in 1994, killing several teenagers. Tate, the ghost in modern times, did not remember much of what he had done.
Tate committed his atrocities while wearing a creepy latex BDSM suit, which is why he was nicknamed the Rubber Man. Tate's mind was corrupted by the sinister demonic entity in the Murder House, which was confirmed in season 8, which focused on his son Michael.
