5 Biggest TV Shows That Switched Locations Halfway Through for Unexpected Reasons
Sometimes, things just don’t work out in the initial filming location, and the creators need to quickly find a way to explain the sudden change of scenery to the audience.
5. Lost
In the surprising plot twist of S3, many main characters were rescued from the island and suddenly, they found themselves on the mainland in the next episodes. While there have been quite a few flashback scenes from civilized society before, this plot twist turned the mainland into the second primary location of the show.
While Hawkins, Indiana had been the primary location of the entire series, Eleven twice ventured into other locations: in S2, it was Chicago, and in S4, Eleven went to California. These sudden changes of scenery received a massive backlash from the fans both times, so Eleven kept coming back to Hawkins regardless.
3. You
Despite starting in New York City, You just didn’t really enjoy the idea of staying in the same place. Each season, the protagonist, serial killer Joe, keeps switching locations and identities: he’s already been to Los Angeles, California suburbs, and even London. We bet that in the final season, he’ll move somewhere else.
2. The Leftovers
The Leftovers has an interesting relationship with its filming locations. The show began in New York, but after quite some commotion, the next season saw Texas become the primary location. Later yet, The Leftovers also expanded to Australia, yet the American locations stayed in the show, too. Where do you want to film?..
The iconic zombie apocalypse show tackled the location issue differently than most others. The group of survivors kept trying to find a place to fortify and stay, but for the first few seasons, this task kept proving impossible. After having tried multiple locations, the last one worked out great — and since S5, the group was staying within the Alexandria Safe-Zone.
