5 Bad Films That Begged To Be Good TV Shows (But No One Heard)
Some stories are completely butchered by theatrical limitations, when the television format would have allowed them to shine in all their glory.
Sometimes the format of a movie just isn't enough, as the theatrical running time doesn't always allow creators to tell the full story, leaving viewers wishing it was a TV show instead.
So let's take a look at five feature films that would have been much better as TV shows, either because they were rushed or for other reasons.
The Dark Tower (2017)
This adaptation of Stephen King 's series of novels of the same name was incredibly disappointing for a variety of reasons, one of which was that an incredibly complex story was butchered to fit into its 95-minute running time.
To this day, fans are eager to see the incredibly rich world of Dark Tower as a live-action TV show, but aside from rumors, nothing has been announced.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Given the iconic status of Han Solo, the movie that focused entirely on the then-young smuggler's adventures was criminally mediocre, disappointing most Star Wars fans.
Many of them believe it would have been much better as an anthology TV series, with each episode focusing on one of Han's many adventures before joining the Rebel Alliance.
World War Z (2013)
Based on the novel of the same name by Max Brooks, this Brad Pitt starrer certainly took some "creative liberties" with the source material, including dropping entire storylines from the book.
Fans of the original would definitely have preferred a TV show, as such a format would have allowed the source material to be followed more closely and the story to be told in its entirety.
Eternals (2021)
This 2021 MCU disappointment was painfully mediocre and a graveyard of missed opportunities.
Instead of another cliched origin movie, we could have had an excellent TV show that followed the titular group of heroes through the ages and showed how they influenced human history.
Warcraft (2016)
Based on the video game franchise of the same name, one of Warcraft's biggest mistakes was trying to cram too much of the world's backstory into a single movie.
Of course, a live-action Warcraft series would undoubtedly have been too expensive to produce, but perhaps the animated format would have allowed the stories of the Warcraft universe to be told in all their epic glory.
