4 Wins For Star Wars Sequels (That Weren't Enough to Save Them)
The sequel trilogy was a complete mess, but it still had some rare good things about it.
The Star Wars sequel trilogy could have been great, with so many possibilities to expand the franchise in a satisfying and respectful way.
Unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge mess of wasted opportunities, leading many fans to absolutely despise it.
But that doesn't mean it was completely devoid of positive aspects, so here are four good things about the sequel trilogy that unfortunately weren't enough to save it.
Great new actors
Though the characters suffered greatly from poor writing and the constant shifting of focus from one movie to the next, you can't blame the actors for that, as they tried their best.
Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac are absolutely brilliant and you can see them shine in their other works.
But sometimes pure acting talent isn't enough to make a character great.

Cool space battles
One thing we can certainly agree on is that the space battles looked pretty impressive and on par with the other installments of the franchise.
Even Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, which is considered the weakest of the entire trilogy even by those fans who liked the new movies, had an entertaining final battle against Palpatine's fleet.
Although you would have to abstract from the other horrible aspects of the movie to fully enjoy it.
Modern Effects
The prequels, and especially the original trilogy, look rather dated today in terms of special effects.
The sequels have done a great job of combining modern technology and practical effects to create some pleasing visuals.
The lightsabers look cool, the planets and the aliens look nice, so this is definitely an area where the new movies have succeeded.
New planets
Although we got a desert planet in every new movie (which honestly feels almost obligatory for Star Wars), at least they were somewhat creative.
Jakku had the majestic remains of Imperial Star Destroyers on its surface, Crait was all salt plains with contrasting red soil underneath, and Pasaana... No, Pasaana was your typical desert world.
There were other cool-looking planets like the "space Monaco" Cantonica and the storm-torn Exegol.
