The secrets of the universe that fans have tried to uncover.

A long time ago, in 1977, the universe of a galaxy far, far away first appeared on movie screens. That was the beginning of Star Wars ' triumphal march into our world. Almost everyone knows that almost immediately after its creation, Star Wars went beyond the movie screens and gave birth to a huge expanded universe.

But as the universe grew, so did the mystery — and that, in turn, forced fans to create their own theories.

1. Starkiller Base is the Planet Ilum

The planet Ilum appeared in both the 2003 Clone Wars and the 2008 animated series of the same name. During this time, the planet has managed to acquire a rich mythology. Most commonly, Ilum is associated with the trials of young Jedi, where they received their first lightsabers.

The most striking confirmation of this theory was brought by the game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, in which the main character visits the planet and discovers an Imperial base where kyber crystals are mined, which are used not only for lightsabers, but also for the core of the Death Star.

Later, the official encyclopedia of the Star Wars universe confirmed that Starkiller Base ais based on Ilum.

2. Finn is a Hidden Force User

This theory appeared in 2015 after the release of Episode VII The Force Awakens, if not earlier — even in the trailers Disney showed a soldier with a lightsaber in his hands. And as you know, in the universe of a galaxy far, far away, a lightsaber is a very unusual weapon, and a person without abilities can hardly handle it.

This theory was indirectly confirmed in Episode IX, when Finn tried to tell Rey a secret before a life-threatening moment, but then refused to answer questions in the presence of other characters.

Later, director J.J. Abrams confirmed that the former Stormtrooper really wanted to talk about his sensitivity to the Force.

3. Snoke is Mace Windu

As you know, nobody dies in Star Wars from falling from a great height. And fans have a big question: why did one of the most powerful Jedi die so ingloriously? Yes, the Jedi Master with the unique purple lightsaber had his hand cut off and was fried by Force lightning, but Force users can survive that.

What supports this theory? Mace Windu was one of those Jedi who came dangerously close to the edge of the Dark Side in his practices, and Snoke declared that he had balance. The changes in appearance are explained by the aforementioned effect of the Force lightning, and the motivation is revenge on the Skywalker family, since it was Kylo Ren's grandfather who cut off the Master's hand, which helped Palpatine unleash a charge of the Force on him.

4. Han Solo activated Kylo Ren's lightsaber

In the scene on Starkiller, Han Solo and Kylo are standing on a narrow, rail-less bridge over an abyss. The young Sith says: "I know what I have to do but I don't know if I have the strength to do it. Will you help me?" And Solo replies: "Yes, anything." Kylo hands his lightsaber to his father, who takes it, but Ren won't let go. The shot changes and Han is pierced through by the sword. He manages to touch his son's face before falling into the abyss.

Fans have suggested that Ren didn't have the strength to kill his father and that Solo activated the lightsaber for him. Han sacrificed himself to show remorse in Kylo's soul and prevent him from completely turning to the dark side of the Force. This may explain the character's surprised expression when his father falls from the bridge.
