The Walking Dead was a show where few characters had the privilege of plot armor. Even those who we thought were protected by plot armor sometimes shocked us with their unexpected deaths.
There were so many characters we loved and were rooting for, but, alas, they were taken from us way too soon.
Hershel
You may have disliked Hershel in season 2, when he was introduced. But we bet you certainly loved him in seasons 3 and 4. That's when we knew Hershel was much more than the old guy from a farm. Played by the amazing Scott Wilson, Hershel became one of fans’ all-time favorites.
Herschel’s wise opinion was one of the few Rick actually took into account. So when The Governor took him from us in season 4, our hearts shattered into a million pieces. Sure, it reflected his fate in the comics, but fans just wanted him to hang around longer.
Noah
Noah is a character we didn't expect to root for so quickly. Introduced as a "prisoner" in Grady Memorial Hospital, we watched his struggle to get out and find some semblance of freedom. Noah had big dreams, wanting to be an architect and build a safe haven in Alexandria.
But fate had other plans, and Noah met a brutal end, especially since it was due to Nicholas' cowardice. We were left thinking of what could've been.
Dale
Dale was the kind-hearted elder of the group. It felt like he was the glue holding everyone together in the chaos of the post-apocalyptic world. It was so shocking when he was taken away from us in season 2.
Many of us felt Dale had so much more to give, more wisdom to share. Was he written out to make way for Hershel? Maybe. Regardless, Dale's departure left a void that was hard to fill.
T-Dog
T-Dog from season 1 was one of the OGs of the series. Though he was always there, standing firm and loyal, we never really got to see him take the spotlight.
Just when we thought we'd get more of T-Dog during the prison saga, he went out with a bang, saving Carol from walkers. It makes us wonder what role he could've played in future challenges and leadership dynamics had he survived longer.
