4 Actors With More On Screen Deaths Than Sean Bean, Ranked
Despite numerous memes claiming otherwise, Sean Bean does not hold the record for most on screen deaths.
It may come as a surprise to many, but spoiler man and just plain good British actor Sean Bean, known to many for his roles in The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, has never held the record for most deaths in movies.
In fact, he is not even in the top five.
Boris Karloff
The master of horror, William Henry Pratt, starred under the pseudonym Boris Karloff. He became famous for playing Frankenstein in the movie of the same name, and was burned in the mill in the finale.
Later, in The House of Frankenstein, Karloff played a mad scientist killed by the same monster. And in The Black Room, he played the roles of two twins and both of them died. In total, the actor died about 40 times on screen.
John Hurt
During his long career, John Hurt has appeared in over 150 films and TV series – and his characters have died at least 48 times. Moreover, Hurt's most famous characters have always ended their lives in a very tragic way.
Examples include the Elephant Man in the David Lynch movie of the same name, the War Doctor in the cult sci-fi series Doctor Who, the aging vampire in the drama Only Lovers Left Alive, and the dictator in the dystopian V for Vendetta.
Vincent Price
Vincent Price made a name for himself in numerous horrors – his characters constantly encountered all kinds of monsters, demons, vampires, and as a result died tragically a total of about 50 times.
One of Price's last cinematic works was the movie Edward Scissorhands, where the actor played the Inventor – a scientist who died without having time to finish the main character's hands.
Christopher Lee
Sean Bean's colleague in the fantasy franchise The Lord of the Rings, Sir Christopher Lee, "died" on the screen about 70 times. Most likely, the reason for this lies in the fact that Lee very often got the roles of notorious villains.
In The Lord of the Rings, he played the evil wizard Saruman, who dies at the hands of Grimm Wormtongue. Lee has also played Dracula several times, always receiving an aspen stake through the heart.
