What can be better than horror recommendations from King of Horror himself?

Stephen King often shares his horror movie recommendations with his fans. This is a list of what King considers to be the best horror movies of the twenty first century.

The Autopsy of Jane Doe

A minimalist but very dramatic horror that walks the line between psychologism and naturalism, only slightly disappointing in its attempt to explain everything in the finale. It's a huge yes from King, but make sure you have company.

Crimson Peak

The gothic melodrama with ghosts, which won three statuettes at the prestigious Saturn Awards. A luxurious and scary as hell movie, according to King.

The Blair Witch Project

It is already a classic mockumentary that has launched a wave of popularity for the genre. According to King, this movie is like the worst nightmare you've ever had.

Deep Blue Sea

Excellent sci-fi about sharks gaining intelligence as a result of uncontrolled genetic experimentation. As King said, when the monster sneaks up behind and bites Franklin, Samuel L. Jackson 's character, he screamed out loud.

Dawn of The Dead

Snyder's feature debut was a vigorous remake of George Romero's 1978 movie of the same name. According to the author, its opening scene is one of the best zombie movies ever had.

The Descent

A franchise-opening, hellishly claustrophobic movie about the confrontation of a group of cave-crawling girls with mysterious monsters.

This time, this is one of King's favorite themes – the monsters are not only outside, the main monsters are the people themselves.

The Last House on The Left

Surgeon John Collingwood, his wife Emma, and their young daughter Mary decide to relax at their country home on a secluded lake, but they could not have imagined what they would experience.

King calls this movie the best horror of the 21st century, which, despite being a remake, managed to surpass the original.

The Hitcher

One of Sean Bean's best roles came in a remake of Robert Harmon's 1986 movie of the same name.

King had high praise for Bean, and the fact that the remake turned out to be really worthwhile revealing an existential theme of many great horror movies – that terrible things can happen even to very good people.

Final Destination

The first movie of one of the most popular modern teen horror franchises. King calls Final Destination movies the R-rated version of the Coyote and the Road Runner cartoons.

Event Horizon

In the year 2047, a rescue ship is sent to the edge of the solar system to find out what happened to the crew of the first spaceship designed to travel at superluminal speed, which disappeared without a trace.

King found the imagery Lovecraftian and the special effects in it stunning.
